What is the PAC?

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a committee made up of parents from the École Lorette Immersion school community.  The PAC meet monthly throughout the school year to discuss a wide variety of matters including upcoming school activities, events, policies/practices, and fundraising as required.  The principal and at least one staff member attend each meeting.

How can I be on the PAC?

Any member of the school community may join PAC.  New members are nominated at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), held each year in September.  A person may be nominated by another person from the school community or may nominate themselves.  An executive (President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary) is elected at the first meeting of the PAC, following the AGM.

 Any member of the school community may attend a PAC meeting!

The PAC meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the School’s Staff room.

 PAC Update – May 2010

 We would like to give a big “Thanks!” to all the parents who donated food and time to help make Staff Appreciation Week a success once again.  It was great to hear as well that some students also showed their appreciation through cards or their own contribution.  We heard many compliments from staff and believe all was enjoyed by everyone!

 As you know, the Community Schools BBQ is coming up on Tuesday, June 8th (rain date: Thursday, June 10th) from 5 to 8 pm.  Bring your family and your neighbours for hotdogs, drinks & frozen yogurts.  There will be entertainment from Summertime Bounce, Sparkles the Clown, and face-painting.  Don’t forget your blanket/chairs to sit on.  Also, volunteers are still needed to help out.  If you can contribute some time during the evening, please contact the school at 878-4233. 

 And finally….. you may have noticed the new baseball backstop in the school yard.  As a long-time goal of both PAC and the school to continually improve the yard for student usage both during Phys. Ed. classes and at recess, PAC provided the funds for the school to purchase the backstop and two team benches.  What a great sight it has been to see a game in play and to hear the kids playing and calling to each other!  Spring/Summer has surely arrived at ELI!

 Our next PAC meeting (and last regular one of the school year) is Monday, June 7th, 2010 at 6:30 pm in the Staff Room.  All parents are welcome.  We will be holding our AGM in September – we’ll keep you posted of the date.
